CHAMPIONING THE NEXT GENERATION OF TALENT

The tech industry has a persistent gender gap, with women making up just 26.7% of tech-related jobs globally. In 2019, Makers and I co-founded the UK’s first Women in Software initiative to tackle this issue head-on. The Women in Software Awards has since become an annual platform celebrating the women who are making waves and driving change within the software industry.

In 2021, I partnered with Makers through Copy & Co. to amplify the initiative’s reach. We developed a comprehensive campaign strategy that raised awareness, encouraged nominations, and honoured the incredible achievements of women in software. This included writing campaign copy, creating content, and managing communication with the judges. I also co-authored a white paper on the topic of women in tech.

How Copy & Co helped

  • Strengthening the impact and visibility of the Women in Software Awards through clear, mission-led campaign messaging across social, email, and web channels;

  • Developing persuasive, multi-channel content that highlighted the importance of diversity and inclusion in tech and drove high-quality nominations;

  • Managing communications with the industry judging panel to support a transparent, rigorous, and credible selection process;

  • Co-authoring a research-led white paper that examined systemic barriers for women in tech and provided actionable insights for improving inclusion and career progression.

Results

The campaign delivered a record 210% increase in LinkedIn impressions and a 150% uplift in engagement, alongside 10% follower growth and a 20% rise in click-throughs to the Makers website.
